Dr. Kevin A. Lochhead

Dr. Kevin Lochhead is a Specialist Prosthodontist who has spent over 25yrs working in private practice and is Principal of Edinburgh Dental Specialists.

Kevin qualified from Kings College London in 1987. In 1993 after significant private training in advanced restorative dentistry, both in the UK and North America, he established a city centre private practice, concentrating on aesthetics and advanced restorative care. In 2001 he was recognised by the GDC as a Specialist in Prosthodontics . The practice has since then been developed into a multidisciplinary specialist “referral only” centre of which he is clinical director.

The growth and development of the practice was fuelled by Kevin’s passion and excitement for providing restorative care of the highest standard. He believes in the “team approach” to managing patients where specialist clinicians work closely together on each case. This way of working means that each clinician can concentrate on their specialist area, coming together to share their knowledge and plan cases accordingly. Patients care is not limited to the expertise of any one clinician and particularly challenging cases can be easily managed.

Kevin’s personal experience with dental implants is over 20years. The specialists at EDS have been running a yearlong foundation course in dental implantology for the last 10 years and Kevin is a key opinion leader for Nobel Biocare and Biomet 3i. He is a dental implant mentor for over 20 dentists at any one time.

Kevin has also taught on the MSc in Primary Dental Care at Glasgow Dental Hospital and lectures regularly throughout the UK on dental implant related topics, occlusion and advanced restorative care.
